Dunn County News - 3/13/2017

UW-Stout again has been recognized by three organizations as a top U.S. school for veterans and members of the military. For 2017, UW-Stout has been named a Military Friendly School, a Best for Vets School and a Top Military School.

The Military Friendly designation, for the seventh straight year, is by Victory Media, which recognizes the top 15 percent of 12,000 Veterans Administration-approved colleges, universities and trade schools. Victory Media publishes G.J. Jobs magazine, which is geared to veterans transitioning to civilian life. UW-Stout received a bronze ranking.

The Best for Vets designation, by Military Times, ranked UW-Stout 96th nationally. It's the second time UW-Stout has been in the top 100. The rankings include 130 schools. UW-Stout also was named a Top School, for the third time, by Military Advanced Education.

UW-Stout has 392 students who are veterans or who are serving in the military.

The university has a Military and Veteran Resource Center in Bowman Hall. In addition, veterans support includes a Veterans Services Office, Veterans Council, Veterans Club and veterans relations senator in the Stout Student Association.
