The Siris Boutonniere Splint is a finger extension splint designed for use by individuals with arthritis, hypermobile joints, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and other injuries or disabilities of the fingers. Made of sterling silver, these double-loop elliptically-shaped splints are designed for use with severe hyperextension (greater than 20 degrees) of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint or distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint or when subluxation of the joint occurs. Worn on the finger or the thumb, this splint blocks hyperextension without limiting the joint's full range of motion. The splint is worn with oval spacer under the joint to block hyperextension while allowing full flexion. This positions the two elliptical rings farther from the joint for better leverage at a more comfortable angle. Available in regular, extra-width, and extra-strength models, these splints can be adjusted by the wearer to accommodate swelling and delay in initiating finger flexion. This splint can also be used to correct reducible boutonniere or mallet finger deformities or mild to moderate non-reducible flexion. The splint can be adjusted by the wearer for comfort. OPTIONS: Fourteen karat gold, custom size or domed spacer, and a combination Siris Swan Neck and Siris Boutonniere (see also separate entry) splint for both joints on the same finger. SIZES: Based on ring size. A measuring kit and round and oval ring sizers are available.
